Launched a legally compliant, mission-aligned nonprofit from the ground up to support spiritual educators and practitioners.
Context
In 2018, I recognized a need for a legal and organizational structure to support a growing community of spiritual teachers, healers, and personal development professionals. Without a formal entity, practitioners lacked legal protection, strategic guidance, and a shared platform for collaboration and growth.
There were no existing frameworks tailored to our values and model—so I built one.
My Role
I led every stage of the nonprofit’s creation—from legal setup and documentation to mission definition, compliance, and early governance.
Action
- Researched and filed 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with full documentation and IRS approval
- Developed the organization’s name, mission, bylaws, and code of ethics
- Created branding, digital presence, and an onboarding experience for founding members
- Facilitated alignment among spiritual educators, leaders, and legal advisors
- Established a governing board and operational guidelines that balanced clarity with autonomy
- Transitioned from founder to board advisor to support long-term scalability and mission continuity
Results
- Successfully formed a federally recognized nonprofit serving spiritual educators and clients
- Built scalable onboarding and governance tools used by teachers across multiple cities
- Created a sense of legitimacy and alignment for practitioners previously operating in isolation
- Enabled legal and tax protections for services often misunderstood by traditional frameworks
